About Sasson

Sasson Sarooei is a genre-defying composer, producer, and poet whose music bridges continents, generations, and traditions. Born in Iran and now based in Los Angeles, Sasson weaves the haunting beauty of traditional Persian instruments with the pulse of Western electronic beats, crafting an immersive soundscape that is both ancient and futuristic. A lifelong musician and seeker of sonic depth, Sasson’s journey began in Iran, where the echoes of the Tar, Santoor, and Daf shaped his early musical memory. At 18, he left for London, later settling in Spain before finding a home in LA. These cultural shifts fueled his eclectic taste, drawing inspiration from the mysticism of Rumi, the electric energy of 70s and 80s rock legends like Led Zeppelin and Pink Floyd, and the cinematic textures of electronic pioneers like Jean-Michel Jarre and Yello.
Since the 1990s, Sasson has been a quiet force in the Los Angeles music scene, running a recording studio and producing projects across pop, rock, and jazz. But it is in his solo work where his voice is most distinct—fusing Psy Trance rhythms with Persian melodies, layering spoken-word poetry in English and Farsi, and placing traditional instruments at the heart of his sound, not the margins.
His latest album is a sonic revolution: Rumi’s 13th-century poetry comes alive through the voices of Mehdi Sayahzadeh, a Rumi scholar and published author, and his daughter, Nazila, whose timeless delivery connects ancient wisdom with modern ears. With each track, Sasson reimagines what Persian music can be—not as a relic, but as a living, evolving force.
Sasson Sarooei doesn’t just create music. He builds bridges between East and West, past and future, sound and soul.
